Wenger: Gabriel available for Sunday clash, Oxlade Chamberlain could miss few weeks

Arsene Wenger has confirmed Gabriel  may be available for selection for weekend big clash at Old Trafford on Sunday, though he confirmed that a number of first team members will miss out as results of injuries.

The club website report that, the Brazilian will return to squad training on Friday and will compete with Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny for a start at centre back, though he allayed concerns Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain could be out for the rest of the season.

Arsene Wenger said on Gabriel Paulistina: "He is coming back into the squad, so we will see how he responds to that, but the signs are positive. He might be available for Sunday."

On Oxlade-Chamberlain,

Wenger added: "He has a scan today, he will not be available for Sunday.

"(His injury) keeps him out for a few weeks, he's consulting a specialist. For how long exactly, I don't know. I don't think (there's a danger of him missing Euro 2016).he added

"Let's hope we get good news and that's it's only two or three weeks, not six or seven.

"Everyone else is the same as before, so there’s no Rosicky, Cazorla, Wilshere."

Midfielder Francis Coquelin is expected to start though, and while he knows that United will be gunning to win the game the Frenchman believes Arsenal have the strength to go to Old Trafford and win.

“I think it’s been a difficult (season) for Man United but in big games like this, we know that they’re going to turn up, because everyone loves these kind of matches. It would be a massive win for them to beat us. But we’re going to be ready. Wenger said

“We beat Leicester and I think the whole team is conscious that, if we want to win the title, we have to win against these kind of teams. Man United are always going to be a great team. Even if they had a bad spell, they still have a strong squad.

Wenger also talk about last season performance against United

“Last year we didn’t lose to them away from home. We showed that we can do something against them away. We won there in the FA Cup and drew there in the league. We’re going to go there full of confidence after what we did last year.

“We’ve just beaten the team at the top of the league and shown that we have the desire to do well and grab silverware at the end of the season.”

Arsenal are favorite to win the bug clash at Old Trafford on Sunday.
