PSG want £40million for Edison Cavani- transfer news

Edison Cavani who scored the winner for his side Paris saint German against Chelsea in the Champions league first league has been tagged £40million by his club.

The striker who has been Manchester United's target ,according to Mirror sports, United has been told to pay £40million for the striker.

The Red Devils have struggled in front of goal all season and have only managed to score 33 times in 26 matches in the Premier League. Thursday night's embarassing 2-1 loss to FC Midtjylland in the Europa League has increased the concerns about the sorry state of their attack and now Louis van Gaal's side are being linked with a spectacular summer move for Cavani in the hope that he could provide them with the cutting edge they have been vitally missing.

The Uruguayan international, who has found the net seventeen times in all competitions this year, has long been linked with a move to the Premier League and interest in his services has increased after he netted the winner in PSG's 2-1 victory over Chelsea in the first leg of the pair's last-16 Champions League clash.

During his time in France, the 29-year-old striker has been forced to play second fiddle to the supreme talents of Zlatan Ibrahimovic so a chance to be the star man at Old Trafford could be an enticing prospect.

Manchester United considered making a £50m bid for Cavani when David Moyes was in charge but they would be relucant to offer a similar amount now due to the player's age.

Up next for the Red Devils is the return leg of their Europa League tie with Midtjylland before they welcome Arsenal to Old Trafford next Sunday.
