Pellegrini highlight City's third away goal as key to tie
"I'm very happy," Pellegrini explained to MCFC.co.uk after the final whistle in the Ukrainian capital.
"It's a very good result. Of course, it's not finished, we have to play the second leg at home but I think playing away and having a two-goal difference is a good result."
Goals from Sergio Aguero, David Silva and Yaya Toure on the night are to thank for putting City on the brink of the quarter finals for the first time. Vitaliy Buyalsky had earlier reduced the lead and threatened on another occasion.
"Maybe at 2-1 there were some moments of doubt but finally, we recovered the ball and scored the third goal. In football, you never think all is finished but the third goal gives us more confidence for the second leg," Pellegrini added.
"It's important to improve every year in the Champions League. I said before the game we were unlucky to play Barcelona in the previous rounds of 16. Now against Dynamo, I hope we can reach one stage more. In the last eight, anything can happen."
For Vincent Kompany, whose recent return to action has been a huge boost, City "couldn't have hoped for better".
The captain told MCFC.co.uk, "It was the sort of City performance we enjoy and we would like to see more often between now and the end of the season - we will take a lot of positives out of the game and it's a good start to a big week for us.
"It's the first time at this stage of the Champions League that we're going into the second leg with a good chance of going through, that's never been the case before, but we need to improve year on, year out."
