Man United set to fire Van Gaal if he fails to finish top four
Before the Red Devils take on their old nemesis Arsenal in the league next Sunday, they still have to face Shrewsbury Town in the fifth-round of the FA Cup and navigate their way past FC Midtjylland in the Europa League and the Danish team currently hold the advantage in the tie after winning 2-1 on Thursday.
Manchester United's hierarchy are reportedly fed up with Louis van Gaal as the Dutchman has massively underachieved in his two seasons at Old Trafford, despite spending over £250m on transfers.
It is rumoured that the 64-year-old's contract is based on performance targets and that any pay-off would be greatly reduced if he fails to steer United into the top four.
With captain Wayne Rooney out for the next few weeks, the Red Devils' season is hanging by a very delicate thread and it looks increasingly likely that Van Gaal will be given the boot with Jose Mourinho waiting in the wings.
If they struggle to overcome Shrewsbury and FC Midtjylland in the FA Cup and Europa League respectively, Van Gaal could find himself looking for a new job very soon.
Who will be United next time?
