Chelsea ready to sign £74.5m Gonzalo Higuain
Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain are also said to be keen on the Argentine, who has a reported release clause of £74.5m.
Gonzalo Higuain has two-and-a-half-years to run on his San Paolo contract, but talks have apparently broken down over the lowering of that fee.
And comments made by Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentis regarding the player's weight have sparked talk of an exit.
"Higuain should dispose of a pound and a half more than he has, as it is almost like he is walking around with a brick in his pocket at the moment," De Laurentis said.
Chelsea reportedly believe they can snare Higuain ahead of rival suitors, despite looking unlikely to secure Champions League football next season.
The Blues are some way off the pace in the Premier League, and are trailing 2-1 to PSG after the first leg of their last-16 tie.
Reports suggest Antonio Conte is set to take over as the Blues' next manager and the former Juventus boss will be extremely familiar with Higuain, through his current role as coach of the Italian national team.
The 28-year-old Higuain has scored an impressive 26 goals from 33 appearances this season.
